Lauppert, Norbert

(1906-1991). Austrian translator of theosophical books into German who was elected President of the Austrian Section of the Theosophical Society (TS), and except for a few intervals, served in that capacity until 1985. Lauppert was born in August 15, 1906, and joined the TS in Austria in 1927.

Lauppert served in World War II and was a prisoner of war. He returned to Graz in October 1945 and was instrumental in reviving theosophical work there.

Lauppert was active as a translator of Helena P. Blavatsky’s works into German and in 1947 helped to establish the Adyar Publishing house in Graz. His main work which took many years, was the translation into German, with chronology based on Virginia Hanson’s research, of The Mahatma Letters to A. P. Sinnett, in three volumes, with explanatory text and notes.

Sinnett, in chronological order, 3 volumes, 1st vol. 1977, 2nd edition 1987; 2nd vol. 1980; 3rd vol. 1982.
