From the Sanskrit nidrā meaning “sleep” and yoga “union.” It is the name of a procedure often associated with HAṬHA YOGA, and is designed to produce relaxation of body and mind. The methods employed may vary, but often include conscious relaxation of the muscles which are passed in review and calming of the mind by association with tranquilizing sounds or images.
