([P] parinibb€na) In Buddhism, it is the nirvanic state after the death of an enlightened being such as a Buddha. It is spoken of as “nirv€Ša without remains,” and should be distinguished from paranirv€Ša found in theosophical writings which refer to the state during cosmic rest or mah€-pralaya.
