Mindless, from a, not, and mānasa, of the mind. This refers to the First Root Race whose mind was not yet functioning. Manas was awakened in humanity only during the Third Root Race by the MĀNASAPUTRAS or Sons of Mind. It is also used in describing the seven Celestial Bodhisattvas who were emanated from the DHYĀNI-BUDDHAS. Each DHYĀNI-BODHISATTVA governs one of the seven globes comprising the planetary CHAIN.
