A Sanskrit word meaning “knowledge (or wisdom, science) of the higher Self” (adhy-atman), sometimes translated (but not quite the same in meaning as) “metaphysics.” It is also the name of one of the Pañca Vidya Sastras or the “Scriptures of the five senses.”
