In Hindu Sš¥KHYA philosophy, it is the undifferentiated matter which is the source of the cosmos. It is equivalent to šKš®A, or primordial substance, and the M¶laprak¬ti (root-matter) of the Vend€ntins. Pradh€na is also spoken of as a veil of the unmanifested BRAHMAN. Its first product is MAHAT, or the Universal Mind.
