A name that refers to several entities or persons during the early years of the Theosophical Society (TS). According to Col. Henry Steel OLCOTT, there were really three John Kings:

(1) An elemental employed by Helena P. BLAVATSKY in producing phenomena. In a seance with Jennie Holmes in 1875, HPB materialized the face of John King and Katie King from the astral light, with the help of the Mahatma MORYA.

(2) The earthbound soul of Henry Morgan, the famous buccaneer.

(3) A messenger and servant of the Adept brotherhood. This is the person mentioned in the letters of the Master SERAPIS to Col. Henry Steel Olcott. (Letters from the Masters of the Wisdom, Series II, and Old Diary Leaves, Vol. I, ch. I.)
