The inner teachings of the great religions contained in mysticism or to some extent “gnosticism” in Christianity; Sufism in Islam; Kabbalah in Judaism and so on. These inner teachings are found to be very similar to the central teachings of THEOSOPHY in that they maintain the perfectibility of humanity through the evolution of consciousness by way of repeated existences and many other points of agreement. It must be emphasized that although these agreements exist, there are also many disagreements, particularly with theosophy.

The Esoteric Philosophy is also known as Perennial Philosophy, Hermeticism and by many other terms.

See also GNOSTICISM; GUPTA-VIDYA; KABBALAH; SUFISM.
