BLAVATSKY’S The Secret Doctrine which connotes “that which comprises the basic material from which the manifested physical world is built.” Adi means first or primal; Nidana refers to a binding or rope and in this context means “a primary or first cause or original essence.” Svabhavat is “the mystic Essence, the plastic root of physical Nature” (SD I:98).
