(Bṛhaspati). One of the deities of the Ṛg Veda and the Purāṇas and called the Teacher of the Gods. He is also called Brahmaṇaspati. His enemy is the god Soma (moon) who carried away his wife, Tara, who bore Soma a son, Budha (Mercury).
