In Hindu mythology, the first of the fourteen Manus or progenitors of mankind. The Secret Doctrine states that “this Manu was no man, but the representation of the first human races evolved with the help of the Dhy€n-Chohans (Devas) at the beginning of the first round” (SD II:307). It is identical with Adam Kadmon of the Kabbalist, as well as Brahmš or the Logos. It was from Sv€yambhuva that the seven Prajšpatis were born. See Manu.
