A Sanskrit term meaning “the yoga of meditation.” It is the subject of one of the chapters of the Bhagavad-Gita, wherein Krishna instructs Arjuna on how one should sit and discipline his mind by focusing on the tip of the nose with the mind focused on Krishna. In Patañjali’s Yoga Sutras, dhyana is the seventh of the eight limbs of the practice of yoga, culminating in samadhi, or transcendent consciousness.
